19 clerics ordained in Kigezi Diocese

The Bishop for the Diocese of Kigezi, the Rt. Rev. Gaddie Akanjuna, yesterday ordained 4 reverends and 15 deacons as well as canonising 3 reverends at the same function. The event that took place at St. Peter’s Cathedral, Rugarama attracted hundreds of believers, church leaders, and several clergymen from Uganda and the neighboring Rwanda.

The Ordained Deacons were Deborah Tumushabe, Jasper Byaruhanga, Bannet Turinawe, Junior Tugumisirize, Martin Monday, Wallen Akatwijuka, Timothy Niwamanya, Ronald Ngabirano, Dickson Turyamureeba, Frank Twikirize, Simon Mukamarinda, Stephenson Ayorekire, John Niwagaba, Ezra Orikiriza and Jackson Kahwera.

The installed priests include Rev Ben Micheal Kiiza, Rev. Ivan Byabagambi, Rev Ambrose Sabiti, and Rev Baker Muhereza.

The priests canonised are Reverend Canon Amos Tweteitse, the Archdeacon of Kikungiri Archdeaconry, Reverend Canon Godfrey Twesiime, the Archdeacon Rukore Archdeaconry and Reverend Canon Milton Nkurunungi, the Diocesan Secretary of the Diocese of Kigezi.

In his message to the newly ordained priests, the Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi Rt. Rev Gaddie Akanjuna asked them to serve the congregation with a lot of commitment.

Akanjuna says that Church leaders should serve the communities without any segregation & they should help them to solve day to day challenges through spiritual healing.

Preaching during the same function, Rt Rev George Turyasingura, the Bishop for East Rwenzori Diocese, asked church leaders to always consider being vessels of hope to believers in their trying moments.

The Kabale District Woman member of Parliament Hon Catherine Ndamira also asked the newly ordained deacons and priests to be committed to the Gods call of serving his people.

The Youth chairperson for the Diocese of Kigezi, Eliab Naturinda Mporera presented goats to all the ordained deacons and priests mobilized from the youth of the diocese’ Kampala Chapter worth over 5million. Mporera rallied Christians to promote peace and harmony in the community.

Some of the newly ordained priests promised to serve the Lord and Christians with vigour and  commitment.
