Police in Rukungiri are holding two suspects in detention for allegedly murdering a 15-year-old boy.
The Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, Elly Maate has identified the suspects as Darius Tayebwa and Arthur Kasingye aged 29 and 31 respectively both casual laborers.
It is alleged that the duo murdered Edson Mugisha a casual laborer from Ihindamata village, Nyabubare Parish, Bwambara Sub County, Rujumbura County, Rukungiri district.
Maate said it is alleged that Kasingye and Tayebwa were seen whispering to each other in a nearby bar belonging to Kamushaba at around 1 am on 5th July, 2022 while the deceased was with other casual laborers at Bwambara Matooke Market located at Bwambara Trading Center waiting to offload a vehicle before Tayebwa grabbed a walking stick from Kasingye which he used to hit the deceased all over the body.
The deceased and others ran into different corridors and his body on Wednesday at about 8am was found lying in one of the corridors.
Maate further revealed that the deceased had allegedly stabbed the suspect, Tayebwa and thus this act was in revenge.
The incident has been reported to Bwambara Police Station and later Rukungiri CPS was notified for further management before an exhibit of a walking stick used was recovered from Tayebwa during the arrest.
