Police in Rubanda are investigating circumstances under which a 35 year old Joseph Nkwasibwe committed suicide following the departure of his wife Kashekye cell, Igomanda parish- Rubanda district.
Reports indicate that the deceased’s body was found hanging in an unfinished house a few meters away from his home, police was notified and they swang into action condoning off the scene and whisked away the body for a postmortem.
It has been established that the deseased has always had domestic wranggles with the partner, Charity Atwebembire which led to a temporary separation 3 months ago.
On 25th January 2023, while at Hakashekye Trading centre, the deseased saw his wife and dragged her back to their Marital home. While a sleep, the wife sneaked and went back to her father’s home, leaving the deseased alone in bed.
At around 07:00 Am, on 26th January 2023, she saw her children docked at her father’shome. The children say, their father beat them up blaming them for their mother’s departure. Atwebembire went to Hamurwa police station and reported a Domestic violence case against her husband, Nkwasibwe Joseph who was immediately summoned.
ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region police spokesperson said that the deseased did not comply with the summons and a few days later, they were notified of a body, supposedly of a male adult hanging in an unfinished house in Kashekye cell- Igomanda parish.
“Our team went on ground, and the body was retrieved and conveyed to Rubanda Hospital for a postmortem.” Said ASP Elly Maate, adding that Rubanda police station has filed a suicide case under reference number CRB 036/2023.
