40 officers graduate at Police college

The Uganda Police Senior Command and Staff College Bwebajja on Monday 20th May passed out 40 senior officers which marked the graduation of officers with PhD and master’s degrees in various fields.

The ceremony was presided over by the Assistant Inspector General of Police Brigadier Godfrey Golooba.

Graduates included 8 PhD police officers in peace, governance, and development as well as 32 officers that received masters in fosters of arts in peace, governance, and security.

While awarding certificates to the respective PhD and Master holders, Professor Samuel Ewusi the African Regional Director of UN University for Peace(UPEACE) urged them to not sit on the knowledge learned but instead deploy these skills to ensure that more capacity is developed.

The Assistant Inspector General of Police Brigadier Godfrey Golooba on behalf of the IGP congratulated the graduates of doctorates and masters upon this appointment in the Uganda police force.

“Knowledge and skills enhancement in the Uganda police force is one of the priorities as we fulfill our constitutional mandate, vision, and mission,” he said.

Golooba also appreciated U PEACE and partners of Makerere University and Nkumba University for having contributed immensely towards the human resource development of the Uganda police force.

According to SCP Moses Kafeero, this was through their mission of fostering professionalism among police officers by equipping them with intellectual and practical skills that are required in securing the life, rights, property, and dignity of the public they serve.

The Entebbe Division Police Commander SSP Kenneth Muheirwe while being awarded a Master’s degree certificate by Prof. Samuel Ewusi.

He therefore welcomed graduates into the world of academia and asked them to use the knowledge and skills attained effectively for the good of the country.

SCP Dr. Hadijah Namutebi on behalf of graduates remarked that they have not only gained knowledge but also nurtured personal and professional growth while shaping their path and fueling their aspirations.

“We promise that the knowledge and skills we have acquired are going to be utilized to benefit the force in the best way possible,” she noted.

The Police Senior Command and Staff College Bwebajja is the training institution for senior police officers of the Uganda Police Force located in Kajjansi Town Council, Wakiso district.
