Multiplex Company to complete Ntungamo Road Construction Works in one Month

The Director of Multiplex Construction Company Limited, Engineer Moses Bbosa, vowed to have the construction works of Ntungamo municipality roads done and commissioned in a period of one month.

He gave assurance after the deputy Inspector General of Government (IGG) Patricia Achan had instructed the company to accomplish its contract within a period of three (3) months. Achan had issued the ultimatum during inspections of the Tindibakira-Kajinya road, measuring 2.07km in Ntungamo Municipality, Ntungamo District.

The shs11.39bn contract was given to Multiplex to construct roads in the area, but delayed to meet the agreed completion date of 03/07/2023. However, the deputy IGG highlighted mistakes on both Ntungamo Municipal Council and the contractors.

She urged the Municipal officials to monitor, supervise, and support the contractor to ensure that the quality of work meets the contract standards.

Joshua Namanya Kansiime, the Ntungamo Municipal Development Forum MDF President, had expressed dissatisfaction with Multiplex’s delays, saying they have spent over 3 years on the road works with no significant progress.

The contract was given to Multiplex in 2019 under the Uganda Support to Municipal Infrastructure Development program (USMID), funded by the World Bank.

Two companies M/S Multiplex Ltd- DITACO International Trade and Constructing JV are said to have signed a joint venture contract for the upgrade of three other roads in Mbarara inlcuding Major Victor Bwana road (0.95km), Galt road (0.63km) and Stanley (0.87km) totaling to 2.36km.

The companies are also undertaking construction works in Kabale municipality with 0.76km of Bwankosa road, 0.34km Bushekwire road and a 2.47km road that which connects Kabale catholic diocese headquarters in Rushoroza to the Katuna-Kabale-Mbarara highway.
