National Youth day Celebrations rescheduled

The Kabale district Community Development Officer, Christopher Namara, confirmed that the national event to mark International Youth Day has been rescheduled from 12th to 18th August to avoid a clash with the Kabale Diocese Ordination Ceremony.

“It was really hard to convince the Kabale Diocese to shift their event, and so the Youth Day has been pushed to 18th,” Mr. Namara revealed during the meeting of Kabale district, municipality, and subcounty authorities at the district Rukiiko hall.

On August 12, the Kabale diocese is set to ordain a number of Priests and Deacons, which was the same day initially scheduled for the Youth Day celebrations.

Namara explained that the communication about the Youth event’s postponement was received from the National Organising Committee.

Meanwhile, the Kabale RDC, Godfrey Nyakahuma, stated that they are expecting at least 10,000 people from Kabale alone to attend the Youth Event, with President Yoweri Museveni as the Chief Guest.

Both the Office of the President and the National organising committee have issued several instructions to the Kabale Organising Committee, including major guidelines on health and security.
