The Inspector General of Government (IGG), Hon. Betty Kamya has dismissed claims that her office is involved in power struggles with the State House Anti-corruption Unity, saying that they are compliments.
Kamya reiterated that her office is in working in tandem with the unit headed by Col. Edith Nakalema to eradicate Corruption, recounting that there is “enough corruption” for both offices to handle.
This was during a corruption awareness workshop for Entebbe Municipality Councilors and technical staff on Monday.
“Our intent is clear, and we hope to have all leaders join the fight from the grassroots. People have been taken advantage of in most cases this they need this information. The elite have abused office and power,” Kamya said
“To end corruption, we need every stakeholder on board across the triangle, and we shall empower the victims to speak up and understand their rights,” Kamya added
The IGG indicated that this drive will be taken to different regional offices to instill good values and awaken patriotism amongst country men in order to fight the corruption scourge that has eaten up the country.
She also revealed that Uganda ranks 151/180 amongst the most corrupt countries in the world according to the Word Corruption Index.
