Ggogonya sisters perform Perpetual vows, others celebrate Jubilee

Hundreds of Christians on Thursday 4th January gathered at Mary Reparatrix Ggogonya, Kisubi-Entebbe in thankfulness to God for His love and providence as they witnessed the 4 perpetual professions of the sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Reparatrix (IHMR) Ggogonya who after a period of contemplation and discernment made an informed decision prompted to consecrate their lives to God and 12 Jubilees of Silver, Gold and Diamond Jubilarians.

The four sisters that made perpetual vows in front of the believers included Sr. Maria Stephania Nakabuye from Kiganda parish, Sr. Maria Agnes Nakirayi Kkonge parish, Sr. Maria Caroline Nakasumba and Sr. Maria Justine Nakyole from Lwangiri parish. 

The ceremony that began with the holy mass that was led by the Archbishop of Kampala Archdiocese the Most Rev. Paul Ssemogerere, was made on the theme: Together let us rejoice in the love of God and share it with others. 

The Kampala Archbishop congratulated the new perpetually professed sisters for embracing God’s love and allowing the world of God in all its richness to find a home in their hearts as stated in (Col. 3:16). 

“The gesticulation of making your perpetual vows today is a perfect emulation of the Blessed Virgin Mary your model who open-heartedly embraced God’s Will and transformed the face of the world”, he said.

His Grace Rev. Paul Ssemogerere also lauded the founders of the IHMR sisters who left a gift of this institute together with the superiors general and their councils who have directed the institute over the years. 

“I call upon you who have made your perpetual vows today, jubilarians and all of you members of this institute to continue walking together embracing the spirit of restitution with renewed strength and zeal,” he concluded. 

Rev. Sr. Maria Speranza Namusisi the Superior General of IHMR sisters asked the brides and fellow sisters to live the same generosity and self-sacrifice that the founders lived and shared, to keep alive the charisms which by the power of the same spirit who awakened them are constantly being enriched and adapted while losing none of their unique character. 

“This will enable us to exhibit the kind of love that Jesus encourages all his disciples to practice, therefore let us never grow tired of doing those little, little things that complement our sacrificial love for God and humanity”, she added. 

During the same event, six sisters namely; Sr. Maria Theresa Nakalanzi, Sr.Maria Francis Denis Kamyuka, Sr. Maria Theopista Nabagesera Buganda, Sr. Maria Elizabeth Alitubeera, Sr. Maria Josephine Nabulya, and Sr. Maria Josephine Pamela Namayanja Nabaggala celebrated a Silver Jubilee, three celebrated 50th anniversary including Sr. Maria Regina Namutebi from Ggoli parish, Sr. Mary Tarsis Nammobwe Mpigi parish and Sr. Maria Godfrey Keitumba from Mabonwa parish, and three sisters also celebrated Diamond jubilee after making 60th anniversary including Sr. Concepta Najjemba Jjanya parish, Sr. Maria Grace K. Nantumbwe Mubende parish and Sr. Maria Achileo Nakitto from Nkoni parish Masaka Diocese.

The function was also attended by some leaders including the Wakiso district chairperson Matia Lwanga Bwanika, and the Katabi town council chairperson Ronald Kalema among other local council leaders.
