The Papal Nuncio Emeritus Archbishop Augustine Kasujja launched Kampala Archdiocese Journalists Association (KAJA) on the 12th.May, as the Roman Catholic church celebrated the 58th. World Social Communications Day that was held at Our Lady of good counsel Gazaya parish in Wakiso Vicariate.
Basing on the day’s theme; Artificial Intelligence and the Wisdom of the Heart: Towards a Fully Human Communication, the Nuncio cautioned the Christians on fully immersing themselves into using artificial intelligence and forgetting to care for the human being and above all God the creator of all. To the journalists the Nuncio urged them to use the new media responsbly for the God of mother churh and peace to all humanity.
In his message on artificial intelligence to the world, Pope Francis expresses concern over how the new technologies are affecting the world of information and communication and certain foundations of life in society.
“At this time in history, which risks in becoming rich in technology and poor in humanity, our reflections must begin with the human heart – Only by adopting a spiritual way of viewing reality, only by recovering a wisdom of the heart, can we confront and interpret the newness of our time and discover the path to a fully human communication” Pope Francis
Rev. Fr. Joseph Mukiibi, the Director Social Communications and Public Relations, Kampala Archdiocese, social communications help the church to engage people in the dialogue of faith and helps them to discover the face of Christ through new communications technologies, enhancing ecumenism, letting conversations, pursuit of truth and progress while ensuring the common good.
The new leadership of KAJA chaired by Cbs’s Charles Kawuma Masembe together with other 7 members including Mary Josephine Nakawunde, the chairperson on Social Communications Kampala Archdiocese were sworn in.
