SUPL: Mawejje elated by Police’s shape after second consecutive win

Police FC captain, Tonny Mawejje conveyed joy and excitement for the restoration of the team after a poor run at the start of the season.

This was underlined after a 3-1 victory against struggling Tooro United in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League at Buhinga stadium on Tuesday.

“I am so happy that we got our second win since the start of the ongoing season,” Mawejje expressed joy.

“The win was so substantial to us because it shows that we are on the road to our best but so far doing what is supposed to be done,” he added.

Brian Muluuli was set up by Juma Balinya to find the opener after 10 minutes into the game before Tooro restored parity through Mark Nsubuga from the spot.

However, in the 34th minute, Balinya restored the Cops lead before setting up Mawejje to extend the lead to three hence earning all the bragging rights.

“This (the win) is something that brings a smile on our faces because at some point we went lacking so much and it cost us.”

“But I am glad we have light up now and we shall only need to be consistent in the next matches to try and chance for the lost points,” he concluded.

Abdallah Mubiru’s charges secured their straight victory and first away win of the term, the Cops had an ugly start of the campaign with six defeats in the six opening games.

They later shared points on three occasions before they lost on the tenth game of the campaign to noisy neighbours, KCCA FC.

Their maiden win had to wait till the eleventh matchday and was against Busoga United in a 3-1 triumph before they replicated the same result against Tooro.

Police FC are currently 13th a place above the red zone with nine points after 12 games played.

They will be hosting Bright Stars in their next fixture at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Wednesday 29 December.
