Zimbabwe we’re knocking on the door till the 38th minute when Onismar Bhasera placed a darling cross in the area that was later finished by Wadi through a powerful header.

Moments later, Gabadinho Mhango controlled Francisco Madinga’s low cross and later slotted it in the back of the net to restore Malawi’s parity.

Following a stalemate in the first stanza, Malawi came back from recess looking more energised and focused to seal the assignment.

Ten minutes into the second half, Madinga met with a pass in the box before he unleashed a venomous shot but it rattled off the woodwork denying Malawi to take the lead.

Though minutes after, Zimbabwe’s defence lost attention giving room to Gabadinyo Mhango who chipped the ball in the back of the net to give Malawi a well deserved lead.

The result awarded Malawi their maiden win after two games in the ongoing Nations Cup while Zimbabwe suffered another frustrating loss.

Zimbabwe remain with only one chance to get atleast a point from the tournament and that will be against Guinea who have four points from two outings

Though, Malawi will be a well motivated side facing an off-form Senegal who have failed to impress after playing two games.
