Our objective was to get to the next round – Robertinho highlights encounter against Kigezi Homeboyz

Vipers SC head coach Robertinho Oliviera said his side’s objective going into the game against Kigezi Homeboyz was to get all three points to ensure they go to the next round regardless of the challenges.

The Venoms withstood over 390 km to one of the coldest areas, Kabale but that hardly allowed the defending champions of the Stanbic Uganda Cup to find room for error.

Agile forward Yunus Junior Sentamu was the hero of the day after scoring late to ensure Vipers SC travel from Kabale Municipal Stadium with maximum points.

“Our objective was to get three points,” Robertinho told the press shortly after the thrilling encounter witnessed by huge crowds.

“It was a different game because it is not easy moving all that distance but we managed and I would like to congratulate my players for the sprinted fight.”

The hosts in Kigezi Home Boyz endured 82 minutes guarding their goal and halting Vipers striking line but with six minutes to play, Sentamu hit a venomous shot from 20 yards through several bodies to find the back of the net.

According to Robertinho, Vipers came in the game with limited choices since a number of players such as Bobosi Byaruhanga, Karim Watambala and Bright Anukani are out due to injuries.

Meanwhile the reigning champions will now turn their guns to Kalango United in an encounter slated for Saturday February 26, 2022 on the Round of 32.
