Kitooro Market: Elected leaders pledge to work with the defeated

Upon being elected the chairperson for Kitooro market, Ronald Kusambira pledged to work with Isabirye Marijan, who was the former’s competitor. Kusambira was announced winner of the Thursday election with 277 votes against Isabirye who managed to garner 218 votes.

He promised to provide a conducive working environment for all the parties to prosper while operating within and around the market. The Thursday election had commenced at 9a.m up to 4p.m when the vote counting ensued.

According to Scovia Oyesigye the presiding officer, it was a free and fair election that involved political freedoms and fair processes leading up to the vote, a fair count of eligible voters who casted the ballots and election results was accepted by all parties.

Isabirye, who was  in a tight race with Kusambira accepted the election results before congratulating his nemesis for being elected the market chairperson.

Other leaders elected include, Abubaker Bukenya who won Sam Sseninde on the vice chairperson post with the margin of 4 votes, Godfrey Ssebagala the treasurer elect, Julius the secretary and his vice Fatuma Namirembe whereas Damascus Muyemba was voted as the representative of people with disability.

Musisi Lubega for Sanitation, Doreen- welfare, Javira Mutangizi as the mobilizer while Robinah Namulondo was elected the women representative and Hassan Matovu, the youth representative.
