Vipers custodian sidelined for the rest of the season

Vipers SC goalkeeper Fabien Mutombora is set to miss the rest of the season due to injury, the club announced.

The Burundian custodian who missed Vipers’ StarTimes Uganda Premier League encounter against KCCA FC will be out for the next six fixtures.

He will miss games against Gaddafi FC, Express FC, Onduparaka FC, Wakiso Giants FC, SC Villa, Police FC and Stanbic Uganda Cup remaining games.

Mutomora sustained the injury in the game against URA FC on Tuesday last week at the Arena of Visions.

According to the scans, he suffered a zygomatic bone fracture.

Mutombora, unfortunately, will be out until next season. That is a blow for him and a blow for us. He has been fantastic,” Vipers SC head coach Robertinho Oliviera said.

Denis Kiggundu who started in-between the posts against KCCA FC over the weekend will be Mutombora’s backup in the remaining fixtures.

He joins Viper’s assistant captain Paul Willa and forward Ibrahim Orit who are also sidelined until next season.

The Venoms are on top of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League table with 58 points, 12 ahead of second-placed KCCA FCA.
