SUPL: Vipers SC confirmed champions with four to play

Vipers SC have been confirmed as the 2021/2022 StarTimes Uganda Premier League champions following a 3-0 victory against Express FC.

Yunus Sentamu scored two goals while Bright Anukani scored the other against the Red Eagles at St. Mary’s Stadium Kitende on Friday evening.

Sentamu broke the deadlock in the 25th minute when he raced in at the far post to neatly slot home from from Milton Karisa’s cross.

In the 30th minute, the Venoms pushed to double their lead but the visitors defended well to deny Cesar Manzoki any chance on the ball.

Sentamu doubled Vipers’ lead in the 35th minute when he raced at the far post again to head neatly Hilary Mukundane’s delivery.

In the 58th minute, Disan Galiwango had a brilliant cross which finds Manzoki but the striker’s header went just inches wide.

Anukani made it 3-0 when he shot home for his first St Mary’s Stadium goal in the 60th minute after a great work from Karisa.

Vipers have now moved to 64 points 14 ahead of second-placed KCCA FC who are on 50 points.

This is Vipers’ fifth title in the league and they secured it with four games to the end of the season.

Their next game will be against Onduparaka on May 3rd at AbaBet Greenlight Stadium in Arua.
