The Public Accounts committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (PAC-COSASE) has tasked the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) to make known the circumstances under which Barbara Imaryo the former Uganda Land Commission Secretary fled the country.
The committee furthermore proved the CDF to furnish them with the whereabouts of Imaryo.
According to a letter dated June 8th 2022 and signed by the committee chairperson Joel Ssenyonyi, addressed to the CDF, the committee has been reliably informed that Imaryo had been under guard by Military Police before leaving the country as per the records by the Department of Immigration.
Imaryo is wanted over irregularities relating to the payment of UGX 10.6 billion compensation to six claimants without the authorization of the Commission.
The committee in May had attempts to locate Imaryo but all the efforts have proved futile after she left the country thus putting the CDF to task.
Rule 181 (4) of the Rules of Procedure of Parliament of Uganda mandates the PAC-COSASE to consider and examine the recommendations of the Auditor General on the Audited Accounts of COSASE.
The committee is currently considering the Report of the Auditor General on the Uganda Land Commission for the financial year 2020/2021.
