Burundi have progressed to the final after defeating Tanzania 2-1 in a semi-final bout of the Cecafa Senior Women’s Championship at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.
Tanzania took the lead just a few seconds after kickoff courtesy of Opa Clement, but they failed to maintain the lead 12 minutes later.
Burundi were not taking any prisoners as they restored parity in the 13th minute through Nasra Nahimana.
Tanzania opted for an early substitution withdrawing Janeth Pangamwene for Irene Kisisa. The game was still level at the mandatory break.
Into the second period of the, Burundi were in pursuit for a winner and an answer would come in the 81st minute after Sandra Niyonkuru converted from 12 yards.
Therefore, Burundi will meet hosts Uganda in the Final on Saturday 11th June 2022.
