Health Ministry expects parents to agree before Children are vaccinated

Dr. Henry Mwebesa who is the Director General Health Services at the Ministry of Health has today made a press release concerning the vaccination of children against Covid-19.

By the time the he made the press release, many media posts were stating that the ministry of Health was planning to vaccinate all children aged 12-17 years old against the dangerous Covid-19 with or without the parent’s consent.

Dr. Mwebesa went ahead and stated that no child was going to be vaccinated against Covid-19 against the consent of tgeir parents and this was going to be upheld during the vaccination.

“The ministry would like to reiterate that no child will be vaccinated against Covid-19 against their parentts’, guardian or caretakers consent,” Mwebesa stated.

He went ahead and revealed that even though the government wants to boost the immunityof children throughcarrying out vaccination. Its still carrying out discussions with stakeholders and parents to get the best approach for boosting the immunity.

The Ministry of Health, Scientific Advisory Committee together with the Vaccine Advisory Committee after the consultation will inform the public accordingly.
