Uganda Premier League side, Wakiso Giants FC’s head coach Alex Gitta Mulibanga is officially set to relinquish his role at the Club on mutual terms.
According to Gitta his job at the ‘purple sharks’ is done after resuscitation of the status of the side in the top-flight league this term. “With 3 games left to end last season, I put in my request to step away from football,” he revealed.
In an exclusive interview with Gateway News, Gitta revealed that he intends to step away from Football for a while. ” It is important to take a break from competitive football, I have always stepped away from Clubs after achieving my set out goals, but taking a sabbatical is part of my tactics,” he said.
“I intend to use this time to re-organise my tactics and become better, my job at Wakiso is done, I found them struggling and I leave them as a stable mid-table outfit.” he added.
He further said he will continue to offer his support to the club and wish the club well. “I will always turn up for games when possible, I would love to see the continuation of the philosophy and identity I have instilled in the players continue.” he stated.
News reaching our desk indicates that former Uganda Cranes interim boss and KCCA tactician, Abdallah Mubiru is the favourite to succeed him at the Club.
Gitta has been at the helm of several top-tier sides including Express FC, and Entebbe FC among others. He has also coached Masaza sides such as Busiro FC and Buwekula across his career.
