Mayor Kalema tips Rotarians on leadership, accountability

The mayor of Katabi town council, Ronald Kalema on Friday, 22 July 2022 addressed Rotarians at Sanctum-Entebbe on matters regarding accountability and leadership in an effort to equip and guide them on good social practices and stewardship.

Over 40 Rotarians, Rotaractors and guests were in attendance. Kalema, a leader and a Philanthropist joined Rotarians on invitation for their weekly meeting to help establish a rapport for future community development in partnership with Rotary.

Kalema appealed to Rotarians to be the light to the world and live a life that emulates good will , “Rotarians should live an exemplary life accruing to good leadership and accountability, just like charity, leadership starts at home,” said Kalema.

Mr. Kalema is also a law student at Kampala international University a decision he admits to have taken so as to enhance his leadership skills and acquainte himself with a diverse spectrum on the law, governance and justice systems.

He thanked his foster father, Ssemwogerere Ssemakula also a Rotarian for being exemplary to him while growing up, “What has made me who I am today are the good works of one individual here who took me up as a child and treated me like his very own, i was never isolated, he equally gave me what he gave to his biological children,” revealed Mayor Kalema.
“When it comes to leadership, how you treat your junior can be of great help at one point, say hello to that security guard, be humble and exhibit humility,” he added.

On Accountability, the mayor noted that it stretches as far as informing your wife regarding your where about, this would be a starting point in case of anything, “Leaders must understand that accountability needs to be natured at an early stage, being open to your spouse on your whereabouts is an indication that you are responsible and accountable,” Asserted Mayor Kalema.

Chartered on the 3rd December 2013, the Rotary club of Nkumba meets every Friday, 7-8 PM to lay strategies on how best to mitigate community quandaries by employing Rotary’s six areas of focus which include; Disease Prevention and Treatment, Water and Sanitation, Maternal and Child Health, Basic Education and Literacy, Economic and Community Development.
