The body of the fallen former security minister Gen. Elly Tumwine landed at Entebbe Airport aboard Kenya airways at 7pm, Friday evening.
Gen. Elly Tumwine was pronounced dead yesterday after succumbing to lung cancer at the Aga Khan hospital in Nairobi, Kenya where he had been rushed following doctors failure to prevail over his illness at kampala based Nakasero hospital.
The Body was received by the senior military officers and information reaching our desks indicate that the body has been conveyed to Bombo Military Hospital for further management.
Residents of Mukuru Village, Rwemikoma Sub-county, Kazo District gathered to mourn the fallen hero describing him as a patriot, a down-to-earth, and creative individual who contributed greatly to the livelihoods of the people of Kazo and Uganda as a whole.
The Kazo District speaker revealed that the late General was a dedicated person who loved his country, culture, and art, adding that, “He has been a people person, he had given out 1,300 cows to locals,”.
He further confirmed that burial arrangements will be communicated by the government.
The UPDF spokes person , Brig Felix Kulayigye told journalists on Thursday evening that if there are no changes, the late will be buried at his home in Kazo.
The former Minister is also expected to be accorded a state funeral.
