Today marks 11 years since Robert Kyagulanyi- Bobi wine, together with his better half, Barbra Itungu-Barbi, walked down the isle.
Starting modestly from the streets of Kamwokya, the duo held each other’s hands to make ends meet, typical of an African couple that emerge amidst controversy to embrace the challenges and conquer the odds.
Following a whooping 10 years of staying together, Barbie and Bobi exchanged vows before Archbishop Cyprian Kizito Lwanga at Rubaga Cathedral. 11 years on and they are still stack together, pursuing dreams and indeed accomplished and achieved quiet a lot together.
The Musician turned politician took it to social media to celebrate the milestone, ” On this day 11years ago, your father handed you to me in Lubaga Cathedral and we pronounced our vows to each other before Archbishop Cyprian Kizito Lwanga. We took the holy sacrament of matrimony together. You even tattooed my face on your back, kyokka mwana gwe!.”he stated.
“What a day that was, what a beautiful experience?, It’s like only yesterday. Dear Barbie Kyagulanyi, its been such an honour being married to you. I couldn’t imagine a better companion. May this, our 11th wedding anniversary bring you sweet memories of our love story. I love you so much,” He added.
Excited, Barbi too retaliated with a Facebook post splashing praises to the man who she says became Pivotal in her life. “my sunshine, my Joy, my teacher and my patient companion, Thank you for sharing your youthful times with me. I am waiting to spend my elderly days with you. I love you immeasurably and today, I wish you a Happy 11th Anniversary,” part of her Facebook post reads.
Hailing from a staunch Christian background, Barbi was very influential in the making of today’s caliber of the man ‘Robert Kyagulanyi’.
A portrait of a poor man turned rich, a bad boy turned good, From use of substances to preaching against it, from a gangster life to an obedient citizen, from a would be bad example of a father to a loving, exemplary and caring one.
With support from Barbi, Bobi keenly tailored his music towards social demands, tolerance, democracy, equity and inclusiveness reflected in his “akalulu tekatwawula” an appeal to a peaceful election and “Mr money”, the ballads of a corrupt state.
21 years together and celebrating 11 years of holymatrimony, the couple has 4 children with stellar social command that has left Gorvernment on tenterhooks with hefty investment to neutralize them.
