The Archbishop of Kampala Paul Ssemogerere convened Friday last week with members of the Pastoral Council for the first time since taking charge of Kampala Archdiocese.
The meeting held at Ulrika Guesthouse was attended by the Vicar General of Kampala Mgsr. Gerald Kalumba, parish priests and all heads of laity from 72 catholic parishes.
During this meeting, His Grace Ssemogerere said involving all stakeholders in the planning and decision making process is paramount to smoothly serve the faithful.“In the Archdiocese of Kampala, the people of God can be consulted about spiritual care, religious instructions and guidance of the christian community, or in the administration of the earthly goods which the archdiocese uses for it’s apostolic activities,” he said.
He further revealed that the Church relies on the cooperation of all the people, therefore it is important to listen to the faithful and have them in the process of decision making.
During the same gathering, the Archbishop urged Ugandans not only in Mubende but the nation at large to adhere to the guidelines set by the Ministry of Health to fight the Ebola epidemic.
On the issue of the country’s crisis, he appealed the public to reduce on the unnecessarily expenditures like the excessive outings, drinking, unnecessarily movements among others.
