Vipers duo Najib Yiga and Siraje Ssentamu dropped as Cranes head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic confirmed his final CHAN squad.
Cranes have spent nine days in Tunisia and the squad has played three practice games against Sudan (2-2), Cameroon (1-1) and Mali (0-0) and all were played to stalemates.
“It’s tough for any coach realease players who have been part of the training for long,” Micho told FUFA Media.
“But factors beyound our control can not allow us to take Yiga and Ssentamu to Algeria. Both players will remain part of our future plans with the AFCON qualifiers cooming up in March,” he concluded.
The 23-man squad will travel to Algeria on Wednesday as they look forward to the upcomng CHAN tournament.
Uganda are in group B alongside DRC, Senegal and Ivory Coast.
Uganda will kickstart their campaign as they face DRC on Saturday January 14.
