AMUS College School returns home after Winning Bronze

The Amus College School Bukedea delegation safely returned home on 20th February Monday evening from Tanzania after scooping bronze at the 2023 CAF Pan Africa Schools Football Championship (CECAFA Zone).

The first batch touched down on Monday evening at Entebbe International Airport led by the director Hon. Patrick Isiagi Opolot.

“We are glad to be home safely. It was team work that led us to the bronze medal. We had good preparations” Emily Nabuzaale, a team leader remarked.

Amus College won Rwanda’s Kiramuzi MS 1-0 in the third place play-off at the Azam sports complex, Chamazi. Shakira Logose scored the goal in the second half that merged them into a third position.

Frank ‘Video’ Anyau the head coach appreciated everybody who contributed immensely to the team’s development including the school director, FUFA, the speaker of Uganda, parents among others.

He also noted that the main challenges they faced in the competition was playing over aged players yet its supposed to be an under 15 tournament and a very hume weather that affected his players.

Jovan Magino, an assistant coach remarked that they are humbled for the third place finish even though they needed the first place.

In the semi-finals, Amus College School had lost 2-0 to Ethiopians Awaro S.S.

Besides the bronze medals, the Ugandan school also won a cash prize of USD 50,000 which is equivalent to UGX 190 million.
