Sex-related offences, theft, and cyber crimes have headlined the 2022 Police Annual Crime Report.
According to the report released Wednesday, there was an 18% increase in the volume of crimes reported to Police from 196,081 cases recorded in 2021 to 231,653 cases reported in the year 2022.
The report indicates that there was an increase in the number of road crashes reported last year from 17,443 cases in 2021 to 20,394 reported in 2022.
The report also took into account the Police’s challenges and their efforts to curb crime in the country.
Launching the report, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), John Martins Okoth Ochola, said the report is a form of accountability on how the Police focused on fulfilling its mandate.
