Manchester United’s first goalkeeping choice, Andre Onana, will return to Uganda with Cameroon in October 2024. This was revealed by Kenya’s renowned sports journalist Eric Njiiru.
Using his X handle, Njiiru highlighted that Nyayo and Karasani continue to be renovated and will not be ready for use at least until next year.
“Kenya will host Cameroon in Kampala, Uganda on Tuesday, October 15 as Nyayo Stadium and Karasani won’t be ready until next year,” he said.
In addition, he asked Ugandans to come out in large numbers to support the Harambee Stars as they also see Onana again.
The Manchester United and Cameroon goalkeeper was at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole on Tuesday. His presence drew thousands of Manchester United supporters to Uganda during the match with Zimbabwe in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Zimbabwe and Kenya are hosting their AFCON qualifiers from Uganda for now with the challenges of lack of CAF standard stadium in their countries.
More exciting moments for the fans are expected in the 2027 AFCON edition that will be hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
