Afcon2023 Qualifiers: Uganda plays Niger in next bout

After a disappointing start, the Uganda Cranes will be hoping to rise from their troubles as they host Niger at St Mary’s Stadium in Kitende on Wednesday.

The match will kick off at 4pm and will be officiated by Eritrean referees,Tsegay mogos(central referee), sirak Samuel mengies(assistant referee 1) and and Eyobel Michael (Assistant referee 2).

The cranes lost to Algeria 2-0 in Algiers on Saturday, Faruku Miya missing a vital penalty which may have brought back the visitors into the game.

Niger on the other hand drew with visitors Tanzania at Stade de l’Amitie. Niger put up a fight to bounce back and get a point after the Taifa stars took the lead first, the game ended in a one-all draw.

The cranes come in this game desperate for a win which will hype their qualification hopes.

The two teams last met in a friendly in 2018 at stade General sehini kounteche in Niger where the Cranes lost 2-1 to the Niger.

Uganda cranes only wins against Niger came in 2007 in the Afcon qualifiers where the cranes claimed a 3-1 win and in 2008 with a 1-0 win during World Cup qualifiers.

The cranes therefore will be coming in this encounter to create more positive history against the resilient West African Nation.
