Afghanistan Evacuees arrive in Uganda

The first group of Afghanistan evacuees has reached Ugandan soil today Wednesday at 7:30am Ugandan time aboard a chattered flight Airbus 330 Camair.

A group of 51 Afghanistan nationals mainly made up of men and women has been checked in at the Imperial Resort Hotel in Entebbe.

This follows an agreement between the Ugandan government and the United States government to host over 2000 Afghanistan refugees after Taliban forces seized power.

More evacuees are expected to jet into the country later today and in subsequent days.

The group will temporarily be staying in select hotels in Entebbe, but will later be transfered to a yet to be identified place.
