The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda the Most Rev. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu has launched the Coffee growing campaign in Rukiga district.
This was during his start of a 3 day pastoral visit to the Kigezi Diocese. While at Kakamba church of Uganda in Buhangizi Archdeaconry where he also laid a foundation stone for the ongoing construction of Kakamba Church of Uganda.
Speaking at the function the Archbishop Kaziimba called upon the Christian to seriously support Church, Government projects and other Developmental projects that are met to lift them from poverty levels.
Accompanied by the Diocesan Bishop the Rt. Rev. Gaddie Akanjuna and Mama Charity Akanjuna his grace said that Christians and church leaders must also be able to protect church lands by doing there projects that are meant to lift the church as some people may grab them if they remain ideal.
“We have a number of people who are very ready to start grabbing our Church lands. Here I want to request you to grow coffee trees in these lands that are ideal, and learn how to protect our lands. Christians support both Church and government programs as they at times help to get you out of poverty in your families” said Archbishop Kaziimba.
The woman member of Parliament Rukiga district Hon Caroline Kamusiime Muhwezi who started the Kakamba Church construction said that she will continue supporting church projects.
The Legislator who still contributed 10 million towards the church construction charged people to work hard towards developing their families and also chasing poverty out of their communities.
“His grace the Archbishop, I want to assure you that I will support all church projects, like in revamping them. And to you my fellow Christians work hard and develop your families. God will do you a great job if you trust in him and your work,” she said.
The Rukiga County MP, Ronald Ndyomugyenyi who donated 200 bags of Cement towards the Church construction pledged his full support to the church.
The Archbishop together with the Diocesan Bishop planted coffee trees to officially launch campaign drive and called upon leaders and christians to grow more coffee trees.
