Arua Hill, Onduparaka share points in the Arua Derby

Onduparaka FC looked the better side than Arua Hill SC in the goalless stalemate at Barifa Stadium, Arua on Tuesday in the Startimes Uganda Premier League.

The sides staged a stellar performance in the first ever West Nile derby in a fully packed Arena. Before the minute mark Caterpillar’s Muhammad Shaban had the stadium buzzing after he came close to scoring after Arua Hill SC failed to clear the ball from their 18 yard box.

In the sixth minute, the armed forces were introduced on the field of play after the fans broke down the chain link, causing Onduparaka players to walk off the turf in protest on safety grounds.

The match would return after heavy deployment on the field under high intensity and anticipation.

In the 20th minute, Onduparaka found their most clinical attack through Mansur Safi but his effort was well handled by Richard Anyama.

As the game grew, Onduparaka dictated play through the right-wing by Emmanuel Okech who gave Richard Matovu a lot of work to do.

In the 37th minute, Arua missed a glorious opportunity as Samuel Ssekamatte chipped the ball past Micheal Kagiri but the effort went above the crossbar by inches.

Five minutes to the end of the first half, Rashid Agau laid a dropping cross that went beyond Anyama but Ibrahim Magadanzi blocked Shaban’s effort.

On the return of the second half, both teams started on a slow note preferring safety.

In the 62nd minute, Rashid Okocha laid a low hard cross into Arua Hill’s box that met Nathan Oloro whose powerful shot was punched away by Anyama.

In the 74th minute, Okocha brought in a hard taken corner kick but was cleared off the line by Rashid Muhammad.

In the 83rd minute, Onduparaka fumbled in the box before Shaban picked the ball in the dangerous area but his effort went off target.
