Police in Rukungiri district is currently hunting unknown assailants for the murder of a 56 years old woman. Her body was discovered lying the roadside.
Elly Maate the Kigezi Regional Police spokesperson identified the deceased as Gaudesia Bahangirire a resident of Rwamarengye village Rwamugoma parish Ruhinda subcounty in Rukungiri district.
It’s alleged that the deceased has been a caretaker at the home of a one Murumba Maria and on the 15/05/2023 at a round 07:00hrs, Bahangire was seen at Katugunda trading center (kikona stage) where she had gone to buy egg plants.
Maate revealed that towards 08:00pm, she was seen leaving the trading center with out the eggplants and later found seated at an appropriate distance of about 300m on the marram road from Kikona stage towards Omukagashe trading center by one Gilbert a boda boda rider.
ASP Maate narrated that On 16/05/2023 at around 08:00pm by passer’s, found her lifeless body alongside the road.
The area chairperson Tiberondwa Sharif reported the case at Ruhinda police station.
Police visited the scene of crime, examined and documented while the body was conveyed to Rwakabengo Health Centre III for postmortem.
The Police noted that Case of suspected murder were registered at Rukungiri District police station under reference number CRB:684/2023
