Police at Kasangati are investigating circumstances under which unidentified assailants shot at the car belonging to Bukwo District Chief Administrative Officer, Charles Ogwang on Friday.
Ogwang was traveling in his official government car, registration number UG 0865 Z.
Ogwang is alleged to have been shot at several times by the assailants and sustained injuries while he travelled in the motor vehicle which later caught fire.
According to the deputy spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan Police, Luke Owoyesigire, the incident was reported to Police by locals at around 11pm on July 8th 2022 after they heard gunshots at Kiryowa, Mabanda, Bombo Road near Banu Petrol station.
First responders from a nearby clinic rushed Ogwang to Bombo Military Hospital from where he succumbed to the bullet injuries this morning at around 4am.
The officers from Both Matuga and Kasangati police stations rushed to the scene and found the car on fire before the police fire prevention and rescue services responded and managed to extinguish the burning vehicle.
Owoyesigire also noted that an inquiry has kicked off to investigate the murder with hope of identifying the assailants and knowing their motive about which more details will be availed in due course.
