The 2023 Basamulekkere Bulumbu Youth Football tournament came to a successful end. This year’s edition was involved in by seven village youth teams that make up Bulumbu ward in Kasanje towncouncil.
Buyiga youth football team became champions after a 2-1 defeat over Bulumbu in the final at Bulumbu playground in Kasanje and they were rewarded with a trophy, gold medals, a bull, full set of jerseys, a ball and certificate.
Bulumbu youth football team who marged second got silver medals, goat, a full set of jerseys, a ball and a certificate.
Kibooko youth football team as in the third position was rewarded with Shs. 100,000/=, full set of jerseys, a ball and a certificate.
Nabanze youth football team who marged fourth got Shs 50,000/, full set of jerseys, a ball plus a certificate and other teams that participated managed to receive certificates of appreciation.
The organizing committee also awarded individuals including the top scorer as Ronald Ssemakokiro with six goals, Dan Nyanzi as the best goalkeeper, George Katongole was the youngest player, Joseph Byamukama as the smartest player, Pius Wagubbi was the most outstanding defender, Emma Katongole as the best coach, Richard Kizza and Joan Nabasirye as the best supporters and commetee members.
While handing over the trophy to the winner, Ronald Kalema the Katabi Towncouncil Chairperson pledged to continue organizing such tournaments not only in his electrical area Katabi but in the entire Busiro South region and Wakiso district at large.
“Football is a source of income to many, it helps us with a positive fitness as well as bringing us together and having fun, so i will keep on organizing such events,” he concluded.
