Horoya took the lead in the 11th minute through Yakhouba Barry after capitalizing on Jack Komakech’s blunder who failed to get hold of the ball.

Vipers nearly responded on time through Karim Watambala whose effort parried off the left goal post.

Later on, Vipers grew in stature and came close through Martin Kizza and Mukundane but failed to find the target.

In the second half, Vipers made several changes but there effect was not surely felt.

At the stroke of the game, Sory Traore scored finishing a well crafted attack to hit the last nail in Vipers coffin.

After six games, Horoya finished third of group C with seven points while Vipers sat bottom with two.

Raja Casablanca and Simba SC finished first and second respectively hence qualifying for the knockout stages.

Vipers still lack venom

The Kitende based side are still winless in 10 games. They have only scored twice and will seek to arrest the poor run.

Since the departure of Roberto Oliviera, Vipers has struggled to find a win and new gaffer Alex Isabirye will have a great assignment to regain the lost form.

Isabirye has been in charge of three games, in those, Vipers has lost once and shared spoils twice.

However the end of the continental campaign will give Vipers a chance to concentrate on local football as they fight to regain a spot at the big stage.
