Tanzania qualified to the semifinals of the 2022 CECAFA Senior Women’s Championship in emphatic style after humiliatingly defeating helpless neighbours Zanzibar in the final game of group B at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru
Tanzania registered a magnificent 12-0 win, in an encounter which seemed to be a one sides affair.
Opa Clement led the way scoring four goals and forward Omary Mwanahamisi netted a hat-trick .
The victory meant that Tanzania qualified as group B leaders with 7 points same as second placed Ethiopia only seperated by a goal difference.
Tanzania ended the group stage with 14 goals scored and 2 conceded while Ethiopia finishing with 11 goals, and conceding two.
Meanwhile, Ethiopia thumped south Sudan with four goals to nil at Kyabazinga stadium in Bugembe to qualify to the semi finals .
Aregash kalse Tadesse’s hat-trick and Loza Abere’s penalty were enough to grant the Ethiopians a win.
The semifinals therefore will see Tanzania locking horns with Burundi Burundi while hosts Uganda taking on Ethiopia on Thursday at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.
