Crested Cranes shift focus to WAFCON

After winning the CECAFA Women Championship in Njeru, the Crested Cranes have shifted their focus to the 2022 Women’s African cup of nations

Uganda conquered Burundi 3-1, to be declared CECAFA Women Championship trophy for the first time on Saturday at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.

The team did move their camp from Njeru to Paradise Hotel in Kisasi and had their first training on Tuesday at Kampala Quality Primary School.

Different foreign based players have joined the camp including captain Tracy Jones Akiror,Yudaya Nakayenze Fauzia Najjemba and Vanessa Edith Karungi

The crested cranes are in group A which include hosts Morocco ,Burkina Faso and Senegal for the Women AFCON due July 2-23 2022.

The Crested Cranes last appeared at the tournament in 2000 in South Africa and will make an appearance in the tournament for the first time in 22 years .

The Crested Cranes were able to qualify for the WAFCON after knocking out Ethiopia via penalties before being drawn with Kenya who withdrew from the Qualifiers.
