She Corporates went past Ethiopian side CBE after registering a 2-1 victory in the CAF Women Champions League Qualifiers Semifinals at Azam Complex on Wednesday.
Anita Namata and Phiona Nabbumba scored for the Nakawa based side and Loza Abera was on target for CBE in the tight encounter.
Joanita Ainembabazi released Nabbumba on the left but her effort rattled off the goal post. Namata was in the right position to tap the ball home off a rebound.
Cissy Nakate fouled Ariet Odong Ojho at the edge of the box which resulted into CBE’s freekick but Daphine Nyayenga comfortably collected Loza’s effort.
CBE continue to show calmness and class as they engineered the play from the back. Odong came closest to She Corporates’ goal but her effort went wide by inches.
At the start of the second stanza, Lorza’s long freekick rattled off the woodwork after beating Nyayenga who was off her line.
Two minutes after the top of the hour Loza’s calm first touch placed the ball in the right place before she placed the ball in the back of the net to level matters.
Anita Namata was fouled while entering the box. Nabbumba who had been silent for the biggest part of the game stepped up and curled the ball home to regain She Corporates’ lead.
The win means She Corporates will play the winner between Simba Queens and AS Kigali.
It will be remembered that CBE eliminated Uganda’s Lady Doves on spot kicks after sharing spoils in a 1-1 stalemate in normal time during last year’s tournament.
The ultimate winner in the finals of the tournament will represent the CECAFA region in the CAF Women Champions League.
