Entebbe Archdeaconry Commemorates 35 Years

The vice president of the Republic of Uganda Jesca Alupo on Sunday 07th January 2023 presided over the Coral anniversary celebrations of Entebbe Archdeaconry at St. Mark’s Church Namatte in Entebbe Municipality, Wakiso district.

The celebrations begun with a procession, laying the foundation stone for a new Catgedral and planting of a memorial tree.

During her speech, Jesca Alupo the vice president of Uganda said the government will extend UGX 60 million to aid in the ongoing construction works at the Church.

“Because of your blessings and that of other christians, HE. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has been able to lead this country in a very conducive way,” she noted.

She also revealed that Kigungu road is in the government plans, “we all aware that Entebbe is the image of our country Uganda so am very assured that this road is going to be worked on soon”, she added.

In the president’s congratulatory message that was delivered by the vice president, President Yoweri Museveni paid tribute to the Entebbe archdeaconry Canon John Gitta together with all christians for their contributions to the development of the church and the country at large.

The main celebrant Bishop Felix Odei Annancy from Ghana asked christians and all people to give the archdeaconry financial support towards the project of redeveloping the archdeaconry headquarters.

Entebbe Archdeacon Ven. Canon John Gitta Kavuma said that the 35th anniversary has come at a time when even the number of christians in this archdeaconry have increased.

“Together we are going to remember how God has led us in the past and imagine how God will guide us in the future as we respond to his leading for our next season of ministry”, he added.

He also appreciated the government through its initiatives that aims at developing Ugandans like emyooga, parish development model among others.

Canon Gitta Kavuma concluded by an appeal to the government for support to their sacco (St Mark Namatte sacco) as well as the archdeaconry vehicle to ease movements.

The Entebbe archdeaconry is under the Namirembe diocese with it’s headquarters at St Mark’s Namatte Anglican church located in Entebbe, Wakiso district along the Kampala – Entebbe road.
