The Entebbe municipality leadership has presented certificates to the participants of the Climate Change Quiz.
A total of eight (8) schools (5 primary schools and 3 secondary schools) within the municipality took part in the Quiz. These include Lake Victoria Primary School, Entebbe Parents School, and Kiwafu Muslim Primary School, among others.
The Quiz is intended to sensitize young men and women on how to conserve the environment through the Entebbe-Canterbury link. This year’s edition was under the theme; “Climate change is hurting my school friend in Canterbury, how can i help”.
The Link aims at creating connections with schools in Canterbury and Entebbe Municipality in order to explore common and differences in the actions required to limit the effects of climate change within our different communities.
While awarding certificates to the participants at Lake Victoria Primary School, Charles Kabwama the Entebbe Municipality Deputy Mayor urged the community to respect the conversation projects in place like a one-day general cleaning that happens on the last Saturday of every month.
Kabwama said that Uganda has an appalling record when it comes to waste management, therefore; “we think that having these young ones educated on environment management from the early stage is the way to go,” he remarked.
He furthermore revealed that the municipal council is working on ordinances and laws to guarantee protection of the environment and penalties for violators.
Former MP aspirant, Stephen Shaka said that Ugandans have to be responsible for not only the environment but also our health, and education.
The Entebbe Community Development Officer (CDO) Paul Kimuli, who is also the lead co-ordinator of the Entebbe – Canterbury link appreciated all schools that managed to participate in this program and also appealed others to join them movement in away of protecting the environment.
