Kenya’s Dismas Indiza, was recognized as the best professional golfer and other winners include Peace Kabasweka in the ladies’ open, and Godfrey Nsubuga in the amateurs’ category.

The 2022 edition was held at Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa in Kigo, and the 2023 edition took place at the Uganda Golf Club in Kitante.

The Uganda Golf Open has grown significantly in stature and popularity, becoming a crucial part of the Uganda Amateur Golf Ranking system since 1932.

Dr. Were emphasized the importance of hosting the event in August with an expectation of better weather conditions.

“We thought and still believe that the weather in August will be better. The rains in October disrupted many activities during the Open at UGC, so as we concluded last year’s Open, we decided to host the Uganda Open in August to ensure more favorable weather conditions,” he said.

The Uganda Golf Union president also cheered Entebbe Club’s preparations for the event speaking, “I must commend Entebbe Club for the preparations they have made regarding the course and the amenities required to host an event of this magnitude. The course is taking shape nicely, and I’m confident that the turnout will be excellent this year.”
