The 8th edition of Entebbe Corporate League reached an end with a focus on making Entebbe green under the theme; “Ecosystem Restoration” with a vigorous tree planting session in Entebbe.
The league was organized on 30th November and 1st December at Works playground in Entebbe Division A with various sports disciplines, including football, netball, volleyball, and the enticing tug-of-war, among others, in which different companies competed.
According to Ronald Onzima, the chairperson of the organizing committee, the tree-planting sessions before the games began aimed to teach the younger generation the importance of environmental conservation.
“We have decided to focus on promoting environmental conservation through schools partnering with Roofings Group Limited as our sustainability partner that provided tree seedlings,” he said.
DAS Aviation School merged first in football, followed by DAS Handling Limited and Our Lady of Consolata Kisubi Hospital, respectively. Micheal Owen Kalunga was awarded the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the league, Brian Nfumbya is the top scorer from DAS Handling, Junior Mukasa was the best goalkeeper, and the female top scorer is Patricia from UCAA.
On the other hand, in netball, DAS Handling Limited was announced as the winner, followed by Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (Management team) and the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority opp, with Mariam Nabachwa from UCAA Opps being the MVP.
In volleyball, Emergency Children’s Surgical Hospital Entebbe merged first followed by Entebbe Police Corporate Team and Our Lady of Consolata Kisubi Hospital in the third position, and the MVP Peter Wanyama from Kisubi Hospital. And finally, the tug of war was won by UCAA, followed by DAS Handling Limited and Entebbe Road Association Group.
