Property lost as Fire guts St. Aloysius Girl’s School 

Police in Rukiga district are investigating circumstances surrounding the fire that gutted St.Aloysius Girls Secondary School dormitory and destroyed properties worth millions of shillings.

The fire is said to have broken out on the evening of July 6th 2022 while students were out for their normal evening preps.

Florence Busingye the school headteacher has confirmed that at around 8:40 pm heard students who were studying from the tent near the dormitory that harbors senior two students making fire alarms.

Busingye alerted the staff members together with all other students and subsequently the DPC for Rukiga who dispatched two patrol vehicles and notified the Kigezi region fire brigade who responded to the incident.

According to Elly Maate the Kigezi Regional spokesperson police found the locals and teachers making efforts to extinguish the fire and assisted them to totally put it out.

No death or injury was realized, all students were still intact as per the roll call. Scene has been preserved as police continues to ascertain the cause of the fire.

The case of fire outbreak has been registered at Rukiga Central Police station under reference number CRB: 289/22.
