Police in Rukiga District are investigating circumstances under which a 58-year-old UPDF veteran was allegedly murdered by his wife.
The deceased identified as John Kataratambi a former Uganda People’s Defense Forces Soldier was allegedly killed by Sarah Arebo 25, both residents of Nyamirima cell Rwenyangye parish Kamwezi Sub- County in Rukiga district.
The suspect is said to have left home on Friday at around 1pm and went drinking in a trading centre in Nyamirima cell, while the husband (deceased) was left taking care of their two children and father in-law Kitwekyoma Zavero.
Kitwekyoma revealed that the two had a disagreement over alcoholism after Arebo had returned home at around 11pm and he on Saturday morning opened the kitchen and found his son’s body lying in a pool of blood.
Elly Mate the Kigezi region police spokesperson revealed that Arebo was assaulted by a mob but was rescued by Charles Bendakabi the parish chairman who alerted the Kamwezi Police that rushed her to Kamwezi health center IV for medication.
Maate said that the scene was visited, postmortem done and the body handed over to relatives for burial before the suspect was arrested.
