St Noa Girls Secondary School registered a narrow 1-0 victory against holders Kawempe Muslim Secondary School in the final of this year’s Fresh Diary Secondary School Games edition played at Peace Stadium, Gulu on Monday evening.
Erica Kanyamunza’s second half late strike was enough to separate the tight contest hence giving St. Noa the well-deserved bragging rights.
To the religious followers of schools football, it is easy to note and recall that the two schools met in the finals of the 2019 edition and Kawempe clinched the championship.
The Zanna based side will travel back home knowing they will represent the country in the East African games as champion but also having completed revenge against Kawempe.
To reach the finals, St. Noa beat Kings of Kings 1-0 thanks to Sylvia Kabene’s strike.
While Kawempe went past Rines SS in a narrow 1-0 victory being guided by a goal from Hadijah Nandago.
In the just concluded campaign, St. Noa have managed to score a total of 47 goals and only conceeded once.
It must be noted that Kings of Kings stormed the semifinals after winning a petition against Uganda Martyrs Lubaga who were banned from the championship for two years.
In the 2019 edition, Kawempe Muslim and St. Noa played to a goalless draw but the former won the championship after 4-3 victory on penalties.
