Kawempe Muslim registered a 1-0 victory against Kampala Queens in the FUFA Women’s Super League on Thursday morning.
It was Kampala Queens’ first loss in the ongoing campaign with only one game left on the tabs.
The visitors were the better side in the open proceedings but their style of play was hindered by the soggy ground after a heavy downpour.
In the eleventh minute, Resty Nanziri found the back of the net but the goal hardly stood after the assistant referee sighted an offside during the buildup.
Minutes later, she came close once again after beating her markers but the final effort went wide by inches.
Close to the half-hour mark, Kampala Queen kept knocking on the door but sadly saw their efforts bounce off the frame twice.
After the long break, the home side took the mantle leading from the front as they ignited the pace of the game.
In the 53rd minute, Kampala Queen’s custodian Gloria Namakula fumbled with the ball and Agnes Nabukenya was in position to tap home.
Hadijah Nadango came close to doubling the lead but Namakula palmed away the effort.
The Queens failed to revenge Kawempe Muslim who eliminated them from the FUFA Women’s Cup after a 5-1 humiliation.
Kampala Queens are on the summit of the 10-teamed log with 46 points while Kawempe Muslim are second with 32.
