A Police star pistol has been recovered in Katooke-Wamala, Wakiso District. The gun was found abandoned with 10 rounds of ammunition in a pumpkin and yam garden.
According to a report outed by Kampala Metropolitan Police, the gun was recovered on Sunday after, John Kizito a resident of the area alerted Police about an abandoned gun in his pumpkin and yam garden.
Kizito stumbled on the gun wrapped in a black polythene bag while trying to harvest a pumpkin from his home garden. As he opened, he realised it was a gun and reported the matter to his area chairperson who advised him to report the matter to Police.
Police suspect the gun might have been used by assailants during night robberies, and may have hidden it in the garden.
The matter was registered at Katooke Police and an inquiry into the matter has been opened under SD Ref 31/06/11/2022.
