I always dreamt of playing for Uganda-Lukonyomoi

AFC Portchester lethal forward Emmanuel Tyrhys Lukonyomoi joined the Uganda Cranes camp on Tuesday ahead of the 2023 TotalEnergies Afcon qualifiers.

Lukonyomoi who was born and raised in England told Gateway News it was an easy decision to choose Uganda. ” It is surreal being here, it was an easy decision to make. I always dreamt of playing for my country.” he said

The 22-year-old striker chose to commit his future to Uganda over Nigeria. The forward said he felt more inclined towards his mother’s country than his Nigerian roots.

“I feel Uganda defines me better, growing up I fell in love with my country. I am happy, my teammates have been very welcoming,

“My first day has been great, the food was wonderful,similar to the food my grandmother makes.” he confessed

The forward furthermore said he is focused and determined to win with Uganda. ” I am ready to put in the hard work, our focus is on the upcoming games against Algeria and Niger.” he said

Cranes boss Milutin “Micho” Sredojevic summoned Lukonyomoi owing to his stellar performances and goal-scoring exploits for his Club.

The pacy forward who has great admiration for Cranes legend Majid Musisi, has registered 69 goal contributions for his Club in only two years.
