City tycoon Hamis Kiggundu has revealed a plan to change the face of football in the country.
As Ugandans wait on the completion of Nakivubo Stadium, Kiggundu has promised to start a football team after getting to the end of his first assignment.
“It’s me who is going to change the face of football with my team who will use Nakivubo as their home ground,” he noted.
“I have not just built a stadium for the sake but it means I have kickstarted my journey to invest in the sector of sports,” he added.
“After completion of this stadium, Uganda will get back to it’s best in African Football. We will be able to promote and recommend players into better leagues.”
The stadium continues to take shape, after concrete works on the pavilion the construction team is now laying a foundation for laying the artificial turf.
The fitting of chairs is also underway and it seems the long wait to enjoy soccer in Nakivubo will soon come to an end.
“We have followed modern stadium trends and everyone that comes to Navibo will have a comfortable stay at the stadium,” he stressed.
The Stadium that sits at the heart of the city will have a netball court behind one side of the goalposts while the other with a basketball court.
It will also have executive boxes, self-contained lavatories, a conference room and a resting area.
As the sports fraternity continues to debate whether the stadium meets international standards, Kigunddu says he has been advised on a global level and he will finally change the image of football.
