Ivan Kakembo: Ugandan awarded FIFA Diploma in Club Management

Uganda’s Ivan Kakembo on Tuesday 2nd May 2022 received his FIFA Diploma in Club Management becoming the first-ever Ugandan to attain the same.

Kakembo together with 33 other elite football administrators across the globe has been undertaking FIFA’s inaugural Diploma in Club Management, a course designed to equip contemporary Club executives with the right tools to successfully manage Clubs.

Africa had only 4 participants including Cameroon’s Franck Happi, Botswana’s Sydney Kabo Mogagane, Egypt’s Khaled Refeat, and Kakembo admitted for the one-year Diploma.

Upon his graduation, the Ugandan executive said it was time to set the pace for Ugandan Football.

“I am very happy to receive my Diploma. I thank whoever stood with me through the journey. It’s time to elevate the beautiful game, we have to make football admirable.” he said

The graduation ceremony is part of a four-day series of events taking place at the home of FIFA in Zurich, Switzerland.There will be keynote addresses delivered by various speakers from across the world.

About Ivan Kakembo

He is the founder of Uganda Youth Soccer Academy(UYSA), a football charity in the Katanga slums established in 2007.

He was Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Uganda Premier League giants SC Villa, URA FC and Nyamityobora FC. Kakembo is currently the Director of Football Development at Soltilo Bright Stars FC.

He is a graduate of the FUFA Administration and Management Course and CAF Club licensing certified.

He’s still revered by many for his tremendous impact on Ugandan football Clubs over the years.
